After teasing the highly-anticipated release of her new country single, “The Giver,” for weeks, Chappell Roan took to Instagram to reveal that the track will finally arrive on Thursday, March 13 at 8 p.m. ET. Roan co-wrote “The Giver” with her longtime producer and frequent collaborator, Dan Nigro, who won the 2025 Grammy Award for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical. “We’ve never done a country song and I have such a special place in my heart for country music,” Roan wrote in the caption. “I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus.” While fans are wondering if Roan is going full country with her upcoming album like many other current pop crossovers have done already, the Best New Artist Grammy-winner isn’t ready to commit to a specific sound at the moment. “Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album???,” she wrote. “My answer is.. hmm right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy.” (Variety)
