The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office says there has been an increase in vehicle burglaries around Lake Lowell.

The burglars are punching locks on vehicle doors to gain access which makes it hard to detect damage.

Then they take valuables such as credit cards and use them to load gift cards which then makes the money untraceable.

The Sheriff’s Office recommends that recreators keep their valuables with them or leave them at home.

They also say to be aware of your surroundings by looking for people or cars that seem out of place or are acting suspiciously.
