We have more information today following the shooting death of Cpl. Joseph Johnson of the Nyssa Police Department and the subsequent arrest of a suspect who has been charged with First Degree Murder.
A press conference was held Tuesday and officials say a grand jury will convene this week to determine the exact charges that the suspect will face at trial.
The Nyssa Chief of Police spoke about the support the community has shown by coming together. He was joined by Sheriff Travis Johnson, Ontario Police Chief, and Officer Dave Peterson of the Bend Police Department representing the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation which is assisting with memorial preparations and plans.
The Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel has confirmed that a memorial service will be held for Cpl. Johnson at Nyssa High School at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 22nd.
