Howdy, Partners!
Cory and Jeni here, with another episode of “Tap that App”.
This week I (Jeni) went for an exercise app. With Cory and I starting our new training at Gold’s Gym, I thought it would be good to try something that would help support me in succeeding with my goals. Here is what I played with this week:
RockMyRun: Jeni gives this app a 4 out of 5
RockMyRun gives you music mixes with consistent tempo to help you make the most out of your routine. Since I JUST started being serious about fitness again, I was happy to be able to adjust my tempo to SSSSLOW! Music mixes run the whole gamut of genres from hip-hop to rock, 90s to Oldies, and classical. I personally can’t imagine trying to do deadlifts to Mozart, but hey, I am sure someone can. It also has themes like “Annnngggrrryyy” and “Zen my run”. If you don’t like to run it offers a mix called “Walker’s Delight”.It can also adjust each mix’s energy level to your step pace and heartbeat. The app also integrates with other exercising apps so you can record your runs while RockMyRun keeps going. The free tier provides mixes of up to 45 minutes. A premium subscription removes ads and provides longer workout mixes. You can check out their website at http://www.rockmyrun.com/ (you can also stream mixes from their website).
Cory went with a strange and also useful app this week:
RUNPEE: Cory gives this app a 2 1/2 out of 5
While one could argue that it’s never a good time to get up during the middle of a movie at the theater to go use the bathroom, RunPee can at least tell you the most optimal time — and fill you in on what you missed. The app available for Android, Windows, and iOS devices, and will help users with when the best time would be to disturb your aisle-mates by leaving the theater.
RunPee works when the user tells it what movie they are watching, and when it starts. From there, the app will cause the user’s phone to vibrate when they are approaching the optimal time to take a break. It will vibrate once more when the window has closed.
The coolest part about the app is that it will tell you if there are any outtakes or extra scenes at the end of the movie.
A word of caution, however, is that RunPee’s creators can’t help you on the opening night of a movie. They don’t get access to any pre-screenings, so instead they see movies on opening weekends, keep track of the best break times, then update the app.
