Boise got its first elected female mayor Tuesday as Lauren McLean was sworn in.
She secured the office after winning a runoff election against four-term Mayor Dave Bieter.
McLean has a long history of service to the city.
CBS 2 News reports, she’s served on the city council since 2011, most recently as council president.
McLean will be Boise’s first female mayor to be elected to a full term in office.
McLean said she plans to address issues like affordable housing and regional transit. She wants to put together a task force to help housing initiatives and other programs.
