Taking control of the race in the final 900 meters, Boise State redshirt junior Allie Ostrander won her third-consecutive national title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a school-record time in the process.
Ostrander becomes the first woman at the Division I level to win three-consecutive titles in the event, and joins Jenny Barringer (as the only woman to win three titles in the event.
She also became the first athlete in Boise State history to win three national titles over the course of their career – surpassing Gabe Wallin, who won national titles in the javelin in 2005-06.
She is only the 15th athlete on the women’s side at the Division I level to win three-consecutive national titles in the same event, and only the sixth to accomplish the feat in the middle-distance or distance events.
