Boise State will continue with plans to build baseball stadium on campus

Boise State University will have baseball on its own campus after all.

On Tuesday, the university announced it won’t join a public-private partnership between the city of Boise and Atlanta-based developer Chris Schoen to build a sports park in the city’s West End, choosing instead to build a stadium south of its campus.

Although earlier this year BSU said it was once again open to joining the partnership, the school said it analyzed the plan and determined building its own stadium is the “most prudent use of public dollars.”

The Idaho Press reports, the university’s new baseball team will play at the Boise Hawks’ Memorial Stadium for its first season in 2020.

Cost estimates for Boise State’s new stadium are between $8 million and $10 million.
