Boise man charged with rape sentenced to 10 years in prison

A Boise man originally charged with rape was sentenced Wednesday on a lesser charge of assault with intent to commit a serious crime.

His victim agreed to a plea deal, even though she wanted her case to go to trial. She said at his sentencing Wednesday that the nearly yearlong process had been agonizing.

Clifton Lashley, who was arrested in September, was sentenced Wednesday morning. He had been charged in September with rape and assault with intent to commit a serious crime as well as other charges.

In March, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charges, while prosecutors dismissed the others as part of his plea.

A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison and ruled he would be eligible for parole after two years. He would also be required to register as a sex offender.
