Census Bureau: Meridian Tied for 4th Fastest Growing City

Meridian (670 KBOI News) – According to the US Census Bureau, Meridian is tied for the nation’s 4th fastest growing city…at least when it comes to the percentage of growth.

For 2018, Meridian’s population grew 6.1%, which ties with Frisco, Texas — in the Dallas Fort worth area — for 4th place. Buckeye, Arizona was the second fastest growing city, followed by New Braunfels, Texas and Apex, North Carolina.

The Census Bureau estimates the population of Meridian last year at 106,804. The next official Census will take place next year.

Phoenix was the fastest growing city in terms of population numbers, followed by San Antonio, Fort Worth, Seattle, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

The fastest growing cities were in the South and the West, with only one midwestern city — Columbus Ohio — making the Top 15 list.
