Boise (670 KBOI News) – The group pushing for a citizens initiative requiring a vote before the City of Boise can build the multi-million dollar new library and events center, as well as a sports stadium, all downtown, is gathering signatures for its petition.
Dave Kangas with Boise Working Together says they actually kicked off the petition drive two weeks ago, but they’re kicking it into high gear this weekend.
“We are going to place the initiatives on our website, where people will be able to print off a three-page document for each one, sign it for themselves, and maybe a few people around them.” said Kangas. “There’ll be a 12-line signature page attached to that.”
Kangas says they need to gather 6,000 signatures by the end of April in order for it to qualify for the November 2019 ballot.
Boise Mayor Dave Bieter is opposed to putting the initiative on the ballot, especially as far as the library goes, saying the ball’s already rolling, and they’ve raised a lot of private money for it.
