Boise (670 KBOI News) – With time running out for the 2019 legislative session, the Idaho House is lighting a fire under a bill to legalize hemp production.
It was just Friday when House Bill 122, sponsored by Representatives Dorothy Moon of Stanley and Caroline Nilsson-Troy of Genesee, cleared Committee to advance to the floor.
But Middleton Representative Tammy Nichols says due to the time crunch, they fast-tracked the bill today.
“It was up for a second reading today, there was some discussion, and we ended up voting to put it on the third reading, and it passed the floor today,” said Nichols. “So it went through everything it needed to, and now it’s on to the Senate.”
The vote was 63-7 to send the bill to the Senate. Nichols says there are currently a handful of bill that have passed the House that are being held in the Senate.
She says the people need to take charge and contact their Senators to get those bills moving.
