Boise (670 KBOI News) – The man who has led the opposition to public funding of a proposed sports stadium in downtown Boise is ordered to serve a year’s probation and community service, after pleading guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace.
The Idaho Press is reporting Bill Ilett was ordered to do a year of unsupervised probation, 20 hours of community service, and serve 30-days in jail. The jail time was waived.
It was a withheld judgment, which means if he successfully completes the sentence, he can apply to have it wiped off his record.
On October 9th, the Boise City Council approved the transfer of Grove Plaza from the Capital City Development Corporation to the City, on the condition that if its ever sold, the proceeds would have to go to build a sports facility.
Ilett’s group, the Concerned Boise Taxpayers, opposes the use of public money to build a sports stadium.
After the meeting, Ilett got into an argument with CCDC Executive Director John Brunelle, during which Ilett tapped Brunelle on the forehead three times. He was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace.
