Lost Life Insurance Policy Locator Program Helps Idahoans Find $1.3 Million

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Often times, parents or grandparents will take out a number of life insurance policies for their kids or grand kids, and when they pass away, the beneficiaries don’t know about them.

That’s why Idaho Department of Insurance Director Dean Cameron says the National Life Insurance Policy Locator was created.

He says Idahoans have used it go get nearly $1.3 million that they didn’t even know was coming to them.

“Regardless of the company name, it looks for both life insurance and annuity products,” said Cameron.  “So it certainly isn’t carrier-specific.  If there was a policy that was paid out, it’s not necessarily going to tell them who it was paid out to, but it will tell them if they were the beneficiary.”

If you think that may apply to you, Cameron says they have all the information on their website to help you with your search.
