Boise (670 KBOI News) – The holiday travel season is underway, and gas prices are co-operating at the moment.
Matthew Conde with AAA Idaho says even though millions of people took to the roads and the skies over the long Thanksgiving weekend, gas prices are slightly down in about half of all Idaho counties.
“22 counties are below $3 per gallon on average,” said Conde. “So very, very encouraging because it was somewhere around 14 last week. And even with increased Thanksgiving travel, it hasn’t affected gas prices, mostly due to the abundant supply we’ve had.”
Now that said, prices are still significantly higher in Idaho than they were a year ago.
Conde says compared to the end of November of 2017, prices right now are about 31 cents higher. Nationally, prices are only 5 cents higher.
The big question at this point is what will happen at OPEC’s December 6th meeting…there’s talk about a production cut of one million barrels a day.
