Meridian (670 KBOI News) – One man is dead after a fight with an Idaho State Trooper turned into an officer involved shooting this afternoon.

It happened in Meridian, on Waltman Lane near the Meridian Road/I-84 interchange.

An ISP spokesman told CBS-2 TV it started as a would-be traffic stop about 3:30 this afternoon, but rather stopping, the suspect drove off.

“The suspect fled, and our Trooper pursued him to the end of this street, which is a dead-end road,” said the spokesman.  “At the end of the road, a physical altercation occurred between the Trooper and the suspect, which ended with the Trooper discharging his duty weapon.”

The Boise Police Department is lading the Critical Incident Task Force investigation. As yet, neither the Trooper nor the suspect has been named.
