Open Enrollment for Medicare Starts Monday

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Open enrollment for Medicare begins Monday, and for a lot of people turning 65, they may not know much about the program, or how to get enrolled.

Shannon Hohl with the Idaho Department of Insurance says their SHIBA office — or Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors — is a great place to start to get free information about enrollment.

“It’s the time of year when people on Medicare of all ages, over 65 and under 65, can change their Medicare Advantage plan, or their Medicare prescription drug plan,” said Hohl.  “They can make those changes during the open enrollment period, for the coming year.”

Open enrollment goes through December 7th.

She says Medicare coverage is not one size fits all, so it really is a good idea to talk with an advisor about your needs and your budget.
