Boise (670 KBOI News) – A man who pleaded guilty to injecting another man with methamphetamine, which caused his death, is headed to federal prison for 10 years.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Tommy Basco pleaded guilty to a federal charge of distributing meth, after a 2016 incident in which he injected Peyton Chambers with methamphetamine.

Chambers had apparently overdosed on heroin, and instead of calling the paramedics for him, Basco says he put Chambers in a cold tub of water and injected him with meth. The Coroner said a meth overdose was the cause of death.

Basco took the plea deal, which bargained the charge down from distributing meth resulting in a death…in doing so, Basco avoided a mandatory minimum 20-year sentence.

He’s currently serving a 5-10 stretch in state prison, after admitting he failed to notify police after Chambers died, and instead dumped his body in a park.
