Caldwell Farmer Salutes Old Glory on 9-11

Caldwell (670 KBOI News) – A farmer in Caldwell took time out from his busy day to pay respect to the American flag and the National Anthem, and the pictures are all over social media.

Brent Mai was planting hay in his field near the Vallivue High School football field, as a soccer game with Middleton High was starting…it began with a tribute to the victims of 9-11.

A spectator snapped a picture of Mai standing beside his tractor, his hand over his heart, and sent it to CBS-2 TV.

He says it’s important to do, and it’s important to make sure young people see you doing it.

“Kids learn by example,” said Mai.  “I learned to do that because my dad made sure that every time that flag was raised, we were right there, standing with a hand over our hearts.  I’m trying to do the same for my son, just making sure he understands what that means.”

He says his Facebook page has exploded with well wishes and thanks…but he says veterans are the ones who should be thanked.
