In the May primary, huge voter turnout caused Ada County to run short of ballots at some precincts although the county says nobody was turned away, it’s unknown how many people left the polls because they were tired of waiting.
But for the general election in November, the county will try something that may be a first locally: printing ballots for every registered voter.
And this fall, the ballot will be two pages.
Elections officials say there are some 235,000 registered voters in Ada County so they’ll print a ballot for every one of them.
CBS 2 News reports, that’s shooting for 100 percent turnout which Ada County Chief Deputy Clerk Phil McGrane says will not happen, of course.
But he says it will provide a cushion for the county’s 150 precincts in terms of ballot availability.
Turnout in Ada County is projected to be between 65 and 70 percent on Nov. 6.
