Boise (670 KBOI News) – You filed your 2017 taxes months ago, and Tax Day 2019 is months off…so taxes may be the furthest thing from your mind right now.
But Renee Eymann with the Idaho Tax Commission reminds us there were major tax changes at the federal and state levels, and you don’t want to find out in April that you’ve been paying the wrong amount.
“That’s why we’re encouraging everybody to do a paycheck review,” said Eymann. “We actually have information on our website, that tells them how to do that. There’s a calculator they can use for their federal returns, that we’ve linked to, and then we have a worksheet for Idaho, they can do to estimate their Idaho withholding.”
That website is tax.idaho.gov.
Eymann says another big change is that you’ll need to declare your exemptions for federal taxes separately from your state exemptions. In the past, they were one and the same, but not anymore, she says.
