Attorney: SCOTUS Ruling is Big, But Not the Big One

Boise (670 KBOI News) – The Supreme Court is telling the Colorado Civil Rights Commission to reconsider the case of a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple, and this time, give due consideration to his Christian beliefs.

So does this mean the green light has been given to discriminate against homosexuals, minorities, people of other religions, and so on?

Absolutely not, says constitutional attorney Christ Troupis, of Eagle.

“The discrimination question is still, as far as I’m concerned, left wide open,” said Troupis.  “It does not give comfort to the people who want to discriminate against gay couples or anybody else they disagree with, in providing a service.”

Troupis says what will probably happen from here is the case will be remanded to the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, which will quietly reverse itself and let the case die.

But he says eventually, a case will make its way to the Court, in which the broader issue will be decided.
