Boise (670 KBOI News) – June is just around the corner, and this year, that could mark the beginning of fire season in Idaho.
With the warmer and drier winter we had, fire predictors at the BLM and NIFC say conditions are right for a serious fire season…so says the BLM’s Randy Eardley.
“Their most recent outlook for the summer shows an increase in the potential, anyway, for above normal fire activity, beginning as early as June” said Eardley. “As we move into July and August, it just expands throughout the state.”
So Eardley says anyone who enjoys the outdoors and outdoor sports needs to take a few minutes and get their heads wrapped around fire awareness and safety.
That means spark arrestors on your dirt bike or ATV, keeping your eye on your campfire and dousing it properly, and knowing where you can burn and where fires are off-limits.
