Meridian (670 KBOI News) – Three Republicans running for Governor squared off at Mountain View High School Saturday in the 670 KBOI/IdahoNews.com candidates debate.
One undecided audience member asked the candidates asked if they would, from Day 1 in office, work to repeal the grocery tax.
Tommy Ahlquist said yes, but there’s more to do than just repealing it.
“100%, on Day 1, we need to repeal the grocery tax. We need to start paying more attention to how our government spends our money, and change from the paradigm of spending money, to investing money.”
First District Congressman Raúl Labrador agreed, saying he had a 5-5-5 tax plan.
“I think we need to repeal the grocery tax, but we also need to lower all the taxes in Idaho. I want to reduce the corporate tax, the individual tax and the sales tax to 5%.
Lieutenant Governor Brad Little said it’s a matter of fairness.
“Yes. On the first day. It is incredibly unfair, to the border communities, where those small communities have lost their retail because it’s moved to the other state.”
The candidates were also asked about education, health care, guns and CBD oil.
