Nampa (670 KBOI News) – This weekend at the Idaho Center Horse Park in Nampa, 4-H students and the horses they’ve been training will strut their stuff…all in the name of finding homes for the horses.
The Bureau of Land Management has been working with 4-H clubs to train wild mustang yearlings, getting them ready for adoption.
B-L-M spokeswoman Heather Tiel-Nelson says you can see them in action Saturday and Sunday, and then bid on a horse Sunday afternoon.
“We’ve partnered with seven 4-H clubs from around the Treasure Valley,” said Tiel-Nelson.” “They’ve been teaching them how to lead, how to load into a horse trailer, how to pick up their feet, those basic handling skills to better their future for their new, adopted family we’re hoping to place them with this weekend.”
Bidding starts at $125, and there are other requirements of anyone wanting to adopt a horse. Click here to go to the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Adoption page.
