Garden City (670 KBOI News) – It’s another example of why it’s important to not pick up strange things you find just lying on the ground…it might explode on you.
Four people were slightly injured this morning when a tank main gun simulator exploded behind a Garden City business.
Sergeant Tyler Domeny with the Garden City Police says they got a call just before 11 this morning, about an explosion at Henderson Wheel and Supply on 34th Street…
“We were able to determine it was the simulator round, designed for the tank main gun,” said SGT Domeny. “The device was located outside the business, it was located by an employee, the employee them picked it up and took it inside, and was manipulating it when it went off.”
The M-21 — also known as a Hoffman device — simulates the boom, flash and smoke of a tank main gun firing. It’s used in M-48, M-60 and M-1 series tanks.
Four people were slightly injured; Domeny says they were treated on the scene by paramedics.
They now are trying to figure out how the simulator got there.
