It’s an example of why firearms absolutely must be kept out of the reach of kids.

A 5-year old girl in Wendell is recovering after being shot in the arm by her 3-year old brother.

The Idaho Press-Tribune is reporting the boy climbed on top of a chest freezer, so he could reach a 9 millimeter pistol, which had been left on top of the refrigerator.

The bullet reportedly passed through the girl’s arm without hitting any bones ot other vitals…she was treated with stitches and bandages.

The kids’ mother was in the living room…no word on if charges will be filed against her.
