Why February in Idaho Isn’t All That Bad

February in Idaho gets a bad rap. People complain about the cold weather, the snow, and the short days. But there’s actually a lot to love about February in Idaho.

For starters, there’s the snow. Yes, it’s cold, but that just means there’s more snow to play in. And what could be better than a snowy day in Idaho? You can go skiing, snowboarding, sledding, or just build a snowman in your front yard.

And then there are the snowplows. The Idaho Transportation Department has a fleet of snowplows with names like Berminator, Plowasaurus Rex, and POW POW KA PLOW. These snowplows are on the job 24/7, keeping our roads safe and passable. So next time you see a snowplow, give it a wave and say thanks.

February is also a shorter month. So at least that’s a relief from the “year” that was January. And it’s the month of groundhogs and love. Two things we love. Candy and a weather reporting rodent.

We also get to ski at Bogus Basin, Brundage, or Tamarack. Three of the best ski resorts in the country. So if you’re looking for a winter getaway, February is the perfect time to visit Idaho.

And finally, we get to see how many donuts our non-four-wheel-drive vehicles can do in the Albertsons parking lot. It’s a time-honored Idaho tradition. And it’s a lot of fun.

So all in all, February in Idaho is pretty good. At least it’s not Minnesota!
