Granger Smith is always down to try something new, and this time around that means acting. You could argue that he does a bit of that already with his alter ego, Earl Dibbles Jr., but this time his role is for the theater.

“I spent about a month in Blanco, TX with some incredibly talented actors & crew pouring a lot of hours and a completely different side of my creative brain into this character,” Granger shared in a post on his Instagram over the weekend.

According to Granger, the film, Moonrise, is about a country singer who loses his wife and has to figure out how to live life with purpose. He said he fell in love with the character, which makes since, because his own story is kind of similar.

He will also be writing for the film’s soundtrack. No release date has been mentioned yet.
