NCAA releases statement against Idaho’s transgender law

The NCAA has released a new statement against Idaho’s transgender law that bans transgender women from competing in women’s sports.

On Wednesday, several organizations and high profile athletes, including Billy Jean King and Megan Rapinoe, called on the NCAA to pull the NCAA men’s national tournament from Boise in 2021.

The NCAA says, Idaho’s House Bill 500 and resulting law is harmful to transgender student-athletes and conflicts with the NCAA’s core values of inclusivity, respect and the equitable treatment of all individuals.

The NCAA Board of Governors is scheduled to discuss the legislation and its implications to student-athletes at its August meeting.
