During a work session Tuesday, the Meridian City Council unanimously adopted a resolution to add paid parental leave to the city’s policy and procedure manual. This marks the first time Meridian will offer paid parental leave.

The policy, which will take effect immediately, provides city employees with two weeks of paid leave to welcome the birth or adoption of a new child.

Parental leave will only be available for full-time employees, who must be eligible through the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
