Woman faces 5 years in prison for role in Roberto Gomez murder case

A woman could face up to five years in prison for her role in the robbery and shooting death of 16-year-old Roberto Gomez.

Olivia Hernandez was the second of eight defendants to be sentenced in the case. She pleaded guilty in June to felony intimidating a witness. The plea deal dismissed three other charges of felony perjury, destruction of evidence and accessory to harbor a felon.

Hernandez’s five-year prison sentence will be suspended for probation. Part of her probation term — four months — will be spent in the Canyon County Jail.

Gomez was shot to death in north Nampa the night of Sept. 25, 2018. A jury in May found 16-year-old Juan Olvera guilty of first-degree murder, and he’ll be sentenced later this year.

The Idaho Press reports, six more defendants have ongoing court dates in the case.
