An election will take place on Tuesday in Canyon County.
Three Middleton School District trustees face recalls next week, following a year of turbulence in the district.
Trustees Aleisha McConkie, Tim Winkle and Marianne Blackwell face recalls in the special election on Aug. 27.
Trustee Kirk Adams was also initially targeted for a recall, but he hadn’t served on the board long enough to qualify.
The conflict largely centers around the district’s investigation into Middleton High School Principal Ben Merrill’s acceptance of a gift from parents — a camera that he later returned — and the board’s decision not renew his contract.
One other item will be up for a vote besides the recalls. It’s a Parma School District Supplemental Levy. The levy, if approved, will generate $450,000 each year for two years.
