The Boise City Council heard dozens of residents testify on the ballot initiatives asking residents if they would like a vote on two big projects. The New Library – and the proposed Sports Stadium in downtown Boise.
The City Council heard hours of public testimony before deciding unanimously not to adopt ordinances that would have put the projects directly to a public vote.
The Idaho Press reports, the decision came after concerns over potential legal issues with the language of the ordinance put forth by the citizens group, Boise Working Together.
Following the decision, the initiative process will move forward as-is. So, in November, there will be a vote to have a vote on the issue.
If it passes, it would require another vote before either project could move forward.
