The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho to launch a program aimed at mentoring youth.
The program, Bigs in Blue, will pair a specific child with an individual police officer.
The Idaho Press reports, officers and children will meet twice a month, for activities. Officers may also meet weekly with children for lunch during the school year.
Ada County Sheriff Steve Bartlett says, “Bigs in Blue gives us the chance to create positive interactions with our youngest citizens so we can show them we are invested in their safety and their success in the future.”
