BPD Investigating Death of Man After Hot Bath

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Boise Police are investigating the death of a disabled man, who apparently died after being left in a hot bath tub last month.

The Idaho Statesman is reporting 38-year old Benjamin Reed died last week at a burn facility in Salt Lake, after a home care worker left him in a hot bath.

Reed suffered from Huntington’s disease, and could no longer walk or care for himself.

A friend of Reed’s, who had cared for him for years, said Reed had third degree burns up to his shoulders after the bath, and was screaming in pain when the care worker called him to tell him something was wrong.

No charges have been filed against the employee, according to a spokeswoman for the BPD…the company called it a “tragic accident”, and said they’re doing their own investigation.
