Idahoans can now skip the line at the DMV and renew their driver’s license online, the Idaho Transportation Department announced Thursday.
The new website, Drive Idaho, allows people to renew and purchase their plates and driver’s licenses online, along with other services such as updating an address.
The online service comes after computer problems at county DMVs created long lines and shutdowns of offices last summer.
Driver’s licenses transactions statewide continue to exceed last year’s totals, according to the press release, and wait times for the public at county sheriff’s offices have stabilized.
Drive Idaho’s online services are available 24/7 at itd.idaho.gov/DriveIdaho.
The Idaho Press reports, Idahoans cannot apply for the Star Card, Idaho’s REAL ID, online.
Starting in October 2020, Idahoans will need to have either a Star Card or their passport when flying domestically.
