Boise (670 KBOI News) – Boise voters will have the chance to decide if the proposed main library and sports stadium projects will proceed.

Ada County Clerk Phil McGrane says the elections office finished counting the signatures gathered by the group Boise Working Together, to put both issues on the November ballot.

“For the stadium petition, there were 5,610 valid signatures, and for the library petition, there were 5,698 signatures that were valid,” said McGrane.  “Both of the petitions needed 4.962, which ios 20% of the turnout from the last city election.”

The Boise CIty Clerk’s office will now take care of some last minute formalities, like verifying the people who gathered the signatures were over 18.

May Dave Bieter issued a statement, saying in part “What we see here is the democratic process at work. I respect the citizen engagement behind it and the passion for our community it represents.”
