Today is Election Day, and there are several items of interest on the ballot – depending on where you live.
In Canyon County, the new jail bond is certainly the biggest issue of interest. There have been several town hall meetings around Canyon County on the issue, and many of those meetings have been fairly heated. County officials are seeking voters’ approval for a bond to build a new jail, this time asking for $187 million. It will be the fourth time they’ve asked voters to approve a jail bond; the first three attempts were unsuccessful.
In Ada County, there are also some interesting issues to be decided. Voters are being asked to approve a Plant
Facilities Reserve Fund Levy in the amount of $1.4 million per year for ten (10) years to finance the construction and renovation of library facilities.
Voters in Kuna are also being asked to approve a levy for the Kuna Rural Fire District in the amount of $1.1 million to defray its costs of staffing, equipping and maintaining the Fire District’s Operations.
Polls open at 8am and close at 8pm.
