Boise (670 KBOI News) – Idaho is getting better, but it’s still near the bottom nationwide for working mothers.
Last year, personal finance website WalletHub.com ranked Idaho dead last for working moms, but this year, we’ve climbed three spots to number 48.
Analyst Jill Gonzalez says just as last year, child care is still hard to find, and is way too expensive.
“It’s still adding up to a fifth of the median woman’s salary for the state,” said Gonzalez. “And the quality is some of the worst in the country. There’s simply not enough daycare providers to go around, not many are nationally accredited, and not a lot of childcare workers for how many children there are.”
Idaho was also dinged for having the lowest number of female business executives, when compared to male executives.
