Bill Signed to Extend “Constitutional Carry” Rights to 18-20 Year Olds

Boise (670 KBOI News) – With all the attention to hemp bills, initiative bills, and Medicaid expansion bills, it’s a bill which sailed under the radar of many people…except for young adults.

House Bill 206 allows adults aged 18-20 years old to carry concealed weapons inside city limits, without a permit.  It was signed into law by Governor Brad Little earlier this week.

The bill’s sponsor, Hammett Representative Christy Zito, says it’s common sense, because they can already legally carry openly.

“So let’s say they’re in city limits, they’re out in one of the parks in town, or they just live in the city limits, it gets chilly and they decide to put on a coat, they’re suddenly committing a crime,” said Zito.

The law will go into effect on July 1st.
