Fruitland principal and basketball coach facing two counts of sexual battery and one count of patronizing a prostitute

Michael Fitch, principal and boys basketball coach at Fruitland High School, was charged in Payette County with two counts of sexual battery and one count of patronizing a prostitute, all misdemeanors.

Charges were filed on Friday and Fitch is scheduled for arraignment on March 5.

A statement from the Fruitland schools superintendent, reads “Mr. Fitch has been out of the building since November 16th and he will remain out of the building while this matter is resolved.”

The Idaho State Police have been investigating Fitch since November, but were not able to provide details about the investigation.

The Idaho Press reports, Fitch has served as the principal of Fruitland High School since 2010 and taught for 12 years before that. He was the school’s boys basketball coach for 19 years.
