Boise City Council approves $40,000 for wildlife bridge over Highway 21

A new bridge will be coming to Highway 21 in the Boise foothills, but it won’t be for cars.

On Tuesday, Boise City Council unanimously approved the use of $40,000 of Open Space and Clean Water Levy funds approved by voters in 2015 to help fund the construction of a wildlife bridge to help animals cross Highway 21 safely.

The Idaho Press reports, the project will cost an estimated $3.2 million, with the bulk of funding coming from a Federal Highway Administration grant.

The proposal requests $40,000 in levy funds to help with the local match requirement for the grant. It is set for funding in fiscal year 2021.
