Ketchum (670 KBOI News) – Idaho Fish and Game officials are warning people who live in areas where elk and deer winter, that mountain lions are likely in the area as well.

This comes after a pet dog was killed by a cougar in a Ketchum neighborhood…Fish and Game officers then killed the big cat.

CBS-2 TV is reporting another dog was killed by a cougar earlier in the month in Bellevue.

A Fish and Game supervisor in the area warned people to not leave their pets unattended outside, in areas where cougars might be stalking deer or elk. More importantly, the same goes for small children.

In the last few weeks, a number of mountain lions have been spotted around the Wood River Valley. Fish and Game says they live around cities and neighborhoods year-round, but in the winter, follow deer and elk into neighborhoods, especially where people fed them.
