Caldwell (670 KBOI News) – Health officials say they’ve not seen any cases of the measles in Southwest Idaho yet, but are warning people to be on the lookout for the symptoms.

According to the Idaho Press, the warning comes after an outbreak of measles in Southwest Washington.

The Southwest District Health Department is reporting 25 cases have turned up so far in Clark County, Washington…there are another 12 possible cases.

Measles is highly communicable, and is spread by coughing, sneezing and breathing.  The virus can live in the air for as much as two hours after the carrier has left the room. Medical officials urge people to cover their noses and mouths when coughing and sneezing.

Symptoms include a rash on the face, which can spread to the torso and other parts of the body. It’s often accompanied by a high fever, so it’s very dangerous.
