Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign Begins Thursday

The Meridian Police Department, alongside the Idaho Office of Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Association will launch a high-visibility enforcement campaign aimed at finding drunk drivers and removing them from the road.

The Idaho Press reports, the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will last from Thursday (12/13) through Jan. 3rd.

During that time, officers will look not just for drunk drivers, but also drivers impaired on any sort of substance at all. During last year’s statewide campaign, police officers arrested 292 drunk drivers.

Last year, across the country, nearly 11,000 people died in alcohol-related crashes.

The release encourages party-goers to make plans with a sober driver early on. It also admonishes other drivers to contact law enforcement if they see a drunk driver on the road.
