Election 2018 Results Are Now Official, But Recounts Are Likely

Idaho Secretary of State Lawerence Denny

Boise (670 KBOI News) – The 2018 General Election was two weeks ago, but only now is Brad Little officially Idaho’s next governor.

That’s because the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office has just wrapped up its canvass of the vote. Secretary of State Lawerence Denny says it’s a slow, painstaking process, but that’s the way it should be.

“The counties actually checked the numbers, and made sure the numbers are correct, then they send us the results,” said Denny.  “Then we check those here to make sure the numbers that are reported to us are correct.  Everything went very well.  It was boring, and that’s the way we like it.”

But, just because the numbers are official doesn’t mean Election 2018 is one for the history books.

Denny says there are two races — the District Senate seat and the CWI health sciences building bond — that are likely headed to a recount.
