CWI Bond Issue Will Get a Recount

Nampa (670 KBOI) – They’re recounting votes for Senate seats and governorships in Arizona, Florida and Georgia, but the Treasure Valley will have a recount of its own.

Gary Hunter with the CWI Yes Committee — which sponsored the bond election for a new health sciences building at the Nampa CWI campus — says there will be a recount after the bond lost by only 140 votes out of roughly 230,000.

He says it was very frustrating for everyone.

“To come so close was just short of being devastating,” said Hunter.  “Being an old athletic administrator, for a number of years, sometimes you’d rather get beaten by four touchdowns, or 25 points, than a buzzer-beater or a field goal with no time on the clock.”

The CWI district covers both Ada and Canyon Counties.

The Idaho Press is reporting there will also be a recount of the District 15 Senate seat also…incumbent Senator Fred Martin won re-election by only six votes.

Between the two recounts, it could take a month or more to get official results.
