Boise (670 KBOI News) – It was an $8,000, tax-funded experiment, and two months after it was started, it has to be cleaned up.

In August, a mural was painted on the pavement at the intersection of 8th and Fulton…it was supposed to have been a one-year project to see how well it held up to vehicle, bike and foot traffic.

But Don Day with BoiseDev.com says they’re now trying to figure out how to take it up…and who’s going to pay for it.

“Three agencies are involved here,” said Day.  “The Ada County Highway District owns the road bed, the Capital City Development Corporation put up the funds, tax dollar funds, through their tax increment financing, and then the City of Boise Arts and History Department actually went about procuring the artist and getting the work done.”

The rain of the last week is being blamed for the mural’s deterioration, but Day says he saw it three weeks ago, and it was in bad shape then.
