Boise (670 KBOI News) – The Idaho Republican Party says people would be shocked if they knew which groups were endorsing Democratic candidates for office, including the governor’s office.
Spokeswoman Mary Strow says groups like United Vision for Idaho, United Action for Idaho, and Rise Up Idaho advocate for issues that Idahoans might not agree with.
“They believe in total government control of the healthcare system, government takeover of, at least part of the private housing market, they aren’t exactly clear of how much, they want a government takeover of the banking industry, so basically a government-controlled economy,” said Strow.
She says those groups have endorsed a list of candidates for state and local offices, including Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paulette Jordan.
In order to get the endorsement, candidates had to fill out a questionnaire, saying they were in agreement with the group’s positions, Strow said.
670 KBOI has reached out to Jordan, her campaign office, and the state Democratic Party for their side of the story, but have not yet heard back.
