Micron Expanding Operations in Virginia; 1,100 Jobs Could be Created There

Manassas, Virginia (670 KBOI News) – Micron Technologies is expanding its operations in Northern Virginia, and could add another 1,100 jobs there over the next decade.

In a statement released Wednesday, CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said the site in Manassas, Virginia…about 40 miles west of Washington DC…makes long-lifecycle products for the automotive, networking and industrial markets, and those products support automation, drones, and the so-called “Internet of Things”.

Essentially, that means connecting anything with an on-off switch to the internet, to include things like your refrigerator, toaster, car, and so on.

Micron also announced it will invest a million dollars into the Virginia college and university system to — quote — advance STEM and STEM-related diversity programs.

670 KBOI News has reached out to Micron for further explanation, but have not heard back.
